Nexian is now shipping the $149.99 HandyGPS to customers who had previously pre-ordered the unit, and it will be available Nov. 27 from Nexian's homepage and from Amazon and PalmGear. Nexian also gave us sneak peek on its next product -- WebGPS. Available sometime next year, WebGPS combines GPS, CDMA, and Bluetooth technology into one very compact module. The module is bundled with a tiny wireless "headset" (looks like a cell phone) which has a dial pad, speaker, and microphone.
It is unclear at this point what software will handle the module's phone capability. In addition to voice the CDMA modem also supports data connections enabling the user to be online while using the GPS - perfect for location-based information. WebGPS should be priced in the $250 - $300 range according to Nexian's representative.
