Handspring names Ed Colligan President

Handspring today announced the promotion of Ed Colligan to the position of president, effective immediately. A co-founder of the company, Mr. Colligan will also continue to serve in his role as chief operating officer, overseeing the company's worldwide marketing, sales, operations and engineering.
"As part of the core executive team, Ed Colligan has been instrumental in developing Handspring's operations and business strategy since the company's inception," said Donna Dubinsky, who will continue in her role as Handspring's chief executive officier. "As we focus even more sharply on wireless communications and build stronger alliances with mobile service operators around the world, his leadership will play a vital role in our growth and success."
Prior to co-founding Handspring, Mr. Colligan served as vice president of marketing for Palm Computing from January 1993 to October 1998. Prior to that he was vice president of strategic and product marketing at Radius Inc. He has long been a key figure in the handheld industry and his marketing successes have earned him several industry accolades. He holds a B.A. from the University of Oregon.
