YadaYada's Service Plan is very simple. They include unlimited wireless service for $39.95 a month. The Modem is $299 - but for a limited time there is a $150 rebate. They ask that you sign up for at least a 6 month period. They also say they support OmniSky modem/service users switching over to the YadaYada service, and ask that you call for details. It's a comparable price to OmniSky's service.
Advanced Uses
Because the Minstrel Modem is a true Modem, and not like the paging service PalmVIIs use, you are really ON the Net. You have an IP Address, allocated through AT&T or Verizon, and you can use any Palm Application that expects a network connection. Along with my Prism and a Stowaway keyboard, I've used AOL Instant Messenger for Palm to chat with buddies. And I just want to re-iterate how powerful being wireless is. To be able to not only chat wirelessly, but also use PalmVNC to remotely control my servers or even check mail with Outlook WIRELESS AND REMOTELY is so unbelievably cool on the geek factor I can't even stand it. The picture of Microsoft Outlook on this page is actually a screen shot from my Visor Prism getting my email at home via the Wireless YadaYada service and my @Home Cable Modem.
