Forbes has a very interesting article where they discuss the shipping problems that plague Handspring. Instead of Handspring doing holiday advertising, they have had to postpone an ad campaign untiil 2000.The future of Handspring will depend on how fast it gets its act together and whether or not fans will wait. The Forbes article mentions online groups where people sound like "Al-Anon meetings," but does not say the specific website.
Ed Colligan admits that Handspring only spent four months developing a sales infrastructure. Currently Handspring is working on real-time updates for orders. He also claims that back orders will be filled by November 29 (the date on the article).
We shall see.
