First Edge compatible keyboard shipping

Tue Nov 6, 2001 - 4:34 PM EST - By Marcus Adolfsson

Now available for purchase on Cirque's website for $41 95, the PDA Pocket Keyboard is the only currently shipping keyboard that is compatible with the Visor Edge.

Additional keyboard adapters, which make the keyboard compatible with most of Palm's and Handspring product lines, are available for $4.95 each.

"Cirque's PDA Pocket Keyboard is a complementary accessory for Visor Edge that is small and slim, allowing both items to easily fit into a pocket or purse," said Rita Sharma, business development manager at Handspring. "Cirque's keyboard is a great extension for on-the-go data and text input."

Rather than using the stylus for Graffiti, the keyboard's non-mechanical keys allow for faster typing capability enabling people with Visor Edge to better manage calendar and address text input. The keyboard's retractable stand allows for easy typing either on flat surfaces or held in the person's hand. The keyboard uses two coin lithium batteries as its own power source, so consumers do not have to worry about draining power from the Visor.

"We were focused on bringing the first keyboard for the Handspring Visor Edge to market because we recognize its users are on the leading-edge of technology adoption," said Richard Clasen, Cirque's president and CEO. "Our keyboard allows users to truly appreciate and utilize the Handspring Visor Edge's features and capabilities."
