Palm Computing goes Public

Two days before Handspring will release its Visor family of handheld computers, news from 3COM indicates that Palm Computing will become an independent publicly traded company.

By splitting from 3COM, Palm will now be able to more aggressively drive a number of emerging market segments including 1) handheld operating system licensing, 2) enterprise computing solutions, 3) wireline and wireless Internet services, 4) portal sites and 5) Palm-branded devices.
