The CF Wars are heating up. Everyone is watching. Everyone
is wondering...what CF Adapter should I buy? Is the adapter I just
bought obsolete already? These are tough calls to make. I'm
just a lowly product reviewer. I'm an early adopter like a lot of
you, but just as many of you want to make a wise and thoughtful
purchase. When a reviewer really loves a product, how do they keep
from sounding like a cheerleader? When a reviewer really hates a
product, how do they keep from sounding like they are dissing the
product? The best I can do is call it like I see it. I think
that VisorCentral member dietrichbohn really hit the nail on the
head when he said:
"Seems like the
review would have benefited from a wider lens before focusing in on [one
product]; better ones are on the way... I think that the CF shakeout
won't happen for another few months."
This is probably true...but it's really true for most products.
It didn't take long for $800 bare-bones DVD players to show up
fully-featured at WallMart for $199. Soon they'll be at flea
markets for $50. It sure didn't take long for Visor CF Card
Adapters to turn from a hobbyist's toy to a viable Memory expansion for
Visor enthusiasts!
The FlashPlus is the next step in the series of CompactFlash
Adapters that utilize the FAFileMover Software from Kopsis Engineering.
The FlashPlus is very similar to the original InnoPocket Adapter, but
the FlashPlus is $10 more, weighing in at $49.99. So what do
you get for your ten bucks? A lot, namely - upgradability.
If you've ever had a hard-reset clear you Visor, the last thing you want
to do is have to HotSync before you can restore your data! Since
the FlashPlus is a true plug-and-play Springboard, all you have to do is
pop it in and you're set. The FAFileMover software
runs directly from the Flash memory area in the FlashPlus.
