Definately an essential app. |
I am an avid DB4 user. I tried Action Names and DB4 simultaneously for a month. In the beginning I was leaning toward action names but the more I used it, the clearer my choice bacame. The main things I like about DB$ are: Linking, templates and support. Sure its big, but it's replaced most of the apps I was using before anyway. Plus, with 8mb, 450K isn't really that bad.

Don't leave home without it! |
I can't imagine not having Datebk4!
I use my Visor constantly all day for meetings, to do's, address lookups.... I never imagined how much Datebk4 was going to change how I use things. Having todos beeping when I've planned to do them -- it's wonderful! I've had NO problems with it. It's pretty neat when it cleans up all those duplicated shortcuts as well. Unqualifiedly, I'd say, get it.

Crashes Crashes Crashes |
I can´t Speak for Palm User´s but on my Visor Deluxe I could produce a Fatal Error about every Minute just tapping various options. Pimlico known the Problem - but even after installing DatebkStub things didn´t get better. I would have loved to work with Datebook 4 but I´m back to Action Names. By the way does anybody else have Prob´s with IR comunication to a Mobile GSM Phone. The Tip in the Handspring FAQ didn´t work for me. Still love my Visor but it isn´t half as compatible as I thought

I just got this the other day and I love it already. I thought that DateBK+ was great... this one was just what I wanted/needed.

I really like the fact that I can see my calendar at the same time as my to-do list.

It's got great features....but....... |
Less than 24 hours from the time I installed it I got more fatal errors and soft resets than I have ever had. I've only had my BVDx for about 3 weeks and I have not had any problems (knock on wood). But I downloaded and installed DateBk4 last night onto my BVDx and I finally deleted it this afternoon. I had to hard reset once and soft reset 4 times. I think it still has bugs it needs to work out.

My brain should be this organised! |
I downloaded Datebk4 just to have something to play with in the airport during the long waits. For me, the ADVANCE fuction is the most valuble. It allow me to finally remember friends and family birthdays and anniversaries!! Since I trave extensively, I can set advance notice by up to 99 days! This allows me to get cards or flowers on order for a perfect on time delievery. Response has been very favorable since I NEVER remember these dates. Linking is nice in that it inserts notes into the records too. The split screen is really nice along with templates! The templates have been set up for hotel, airline, car rental, and Doctor appointments in my Deluxe. Making entry input very easy.
Granted, there is a steep learning curve, but one cancelled airline flight should get you WELL up that curve 8-)I haven't found anything better to date and can't imagine finding one.

good features and easy to use |
Offers much more than Datebook+ but maintains the look and feel of the standard datebook that we're so used to using.

One of the best apps, but not for everyone |
I've been using Datebk4 for the last month, and I've found it absolutely invaluable. It's allowed me to set up and display my schedule, and the personal information I need to organize and access, just the way I want to.
HOWEVER, it took a fair amount of initial investigation to decide whether Datebk4 would be valuable enough, what features I wanted to use (and didn't want to use), and to figure out how to set up my data using these features. Anyone planning to use DateBk4 -- even with DateBk3/DateBook+ experience -- will need to spend some time perusing the (very good) on-line manual that comes with DateBk4. I think Datebk4's about the only app where I've read the manual before using the app in years -- and I needed to!
You don't have to configure Datebk4 completely the first time out -- I utilized various features as I went along -- but it's important to know what features are available, to decide what you need to do.
Other than that, great app, and at the price extremely good value for money.
