PC World has this article that gives an "overview" of the PalmOS vs. PocketPC battle that is coming. Everything from Wireless to the expandability of the Handspring Visor is discussed. If you can make it past some quotes by Windows CE vendors, it is an article that tries really hard not to be biased and almost succeeds.
"I've had a lot of difficulty explaining 'Palm-size PC' ... People think it has something to do with the Palm OS. Palm is just an organizer; Windows CE is so much more than that."
"They're different devices. It's like comparing sales of the Palm to that of the Rio players," -- Kevin Havre, technology marketing manager for Hewlett-Packard's Jornada division
Of course everyone else knows that the PocketPC is in competition with the PalmOS. But I have to wonder if HP or Microsoft's marketing people has ever actually picked up a Palm organizer with quotes like these:
"They want color; they want a browser to look at sites ... The difference between CE and Plink is that you can carry data [on a CE device]. Our device just does things that the Palm doesn't have a hope of doing." -- Brian Shafer, marketing manager for Microsoft's mobile device division.
Uh-huh, none of the "stuff" on my Visor can be called data. This is almost as good as that market bulletin Microsoft put out just before the Handspring Visor was released.
